Wild Dartmoor – Meadows
June 30, 2024 @ 11:00 am – 5:30 pm
Experience and learn more about Dartmoor’s nature in a day of walks, history, ecology, story & folklore.
A one-day course led by naturalist and environmental campaigner Tony Whitehead, and storyteller and author Lisa Schneidau, with special guest Tony Bayliss from the Langaford Farm Trust.
Tickets £50 / £40 available here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/lisaschneidau/1192115
As the days are longest, and the sun at its height, spend time outdoors learning about the ecology and history of Dartmoor’s wildflower meadows. Discover the unique plants, butterflies and birds that make these places rich. Through storytelling and folklore, learn how they enchant and inspire us. In discussion, explore what the future holds for Dartmoor’s precious wildflower grasslands and what we can all do to help.
These days are held in the spirit of sharing experience, discovery, curiosity about the natural world, and good humour. They are intended to be a positive contribution to Dartmoor’s natural heritage and our community’s support for it.
What to bring: Tea/coffee and snacks will be provided. There will be a bring-and-share lunch, so please bring a contribution to that (we will provide bread). Please also bring a notebook and pen, outdoor clothing and stout boots. Please do let us know of any dietary requirements beforehand. Please note NO DOGS at this event.
Access and conditions: We will be using the classroom at Langaford but spending time outside whatever the weather. Walking will be tussocky in places on uneven ground.
