The Tangle of the Commons – Berrynarbor
September 22, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Wild plants surround us and shape every aspect of our lives: the food on our plates, the clothes on our backs, and the places we live. But the old stories tell us that the spirits of nature and of place are not all that they seem. What happens when they are pushed too far – and will humans be the worse for it? Whose land is it anyway?
Lisa Schneidau tells wild stories from the British and Irish traditions that will surprise, shock and inspire you. Meet leafy demons, bad-tempered boggarts, travelling trees and the wrath of the Little People. Devon’s green and pleasant land will never seem the same again.
This is the family version of the show, suitable for ages 7+. We will be out in the woods in Berrynarbor, with refreshments kindly provided by Boston Barton Farm. Come prepared for walking and wet weather, bring a torch. Basic seating will be provided but feel free to bring a chair. There will be a wet weather option for the telling under cover.
This is part of Beaford Arts’ autumn 2018 programme. More information and bookings here.
