SUMMARY:Chasing Crockern
DESCRIPTION:On a stormy night on Dartmoor\, a midwife is woken by a strange-looking man whose wife needs urgent help. Driving at breakneck speed through lanes that become increasingly unfamiliar\, she arrives at a mysterious old cottage where things are not quite what they seem. As mist rolls over ancient granite\, tors move and rivers speak\, the midwife realises that this midnight call for help has had some unexpected consequences … \n\n\n\nChasing Crockern blends storytelling for adults with the sounds and voices of Dartmoor to bring the spirit of the moor alive in a new way for today’s audiences. SUMMARY:Mermaids\, Monsters and Other Worlds
DESCRIPTION:England is a maritime nation. Our folklore and history are scattered with tall tales of the high seas\, mysteries of the unknown world beneath the ocean surface and the coast where human life meets the salt sea.Professional storyteller Lisa Schneidau tells old folk tales and legends with a contemporary twist\, using the old craft where stories are passed on and told from memory. In this storytelling you’ll discover pirates and monsters\, sailor heroes and ghost ships\, mermaids and shapeshifters. Immerse yourself in these sea stories and let yourself be swept away in the current of England’s magical relationship to the mysterious ocean world that surrounds us. “Even if you are not a coastal dweller\, you will find magic and wonder in some of England’s oldest and strangest tales.”

SUMMARY:English Folk Tales of Coast and Sea - at Dartington

The author has dived deep into the ocean of folktales and legends from every corner of coastal England\, pulling up a treasure-hoard of shimmering stories that deserve to be shared widely. A few of the tales I was aware of\, but many were brand new to me – a testament to her diligence and delight in researching the source material.
