DESCRIPTION:Have you ever danced with the Devil ? Been mazed by the little folk? Seen the giants sleeping in the stones? DESCRIPTION:On a stormy night on Dartmoor\, a midwife is woken by a strange-looking man whose wife needs urgent help. Driving at breakneck speed through lanes that become increasingly unfamiliar\, she arrives at a mysterious old cottage where things are not quite what they seem. As mist rolls over ancient granite\, tors move and rivers speak\, the midwife realises that this midnight call for help has had some unexpected consequences … \n\n\n\nChasing Crockern blends storytelling for adults with the sounds and voices of Dartmoor to bring the spirit of the moor alive in a new way for today’s audiences. The author has dived deep into the ocean of folktales and legends from every corner of coastal England\, pulling up a treasure-hoard of shimmering stories that deserve to be shared widely. A few of the tales I was aware of\, but many were brand new to me – a testament to her diligence and delight in researching the source material. As someone who lives by the sea\, this feels like a book to be dipped into often and enjoyed as much as the salty sea itself.’ — Martin Maudsley
